2011 Reading Challenges

In 2010 I joined my first online reading challenge and I was a little put off by the competitiveness of those that had joined. Everyone received points for books they read, events attended, and other book related activities, yet when readers posted their points each month, I found it hard to believe that some were able to read 50+ books each month. It was a little disheartening to think that the readers weren't really reading for the fun and joy of sharing what they read but instead trying to outdo others to see if they could have more points than anyone else. So, in looking around online at the reading challenges for 2011, I was searching for something different than that. I have decided to join one that I found online and to start one of my own here on my blog. I wanted to share both in hopes that my readers may find them both intriguing and want to join me.

I came across this reading challenge today as I was reading various book blogs online and thought this was a fantastic idea. It is called Where are you reading? and is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. I have signed up for this one and hope you will too. Go to the Book Journey site to get all the details. Please post a comment below with a link to your map and we can share and see where we are all reading for 2011. Here is a link to my map.
