I have been thinking for awhile that I would start a new blog. I currently have two of them, one that is all about books and the other one that is all about cross stitching and crafts. I want to have one blog to combine all my interests and just life in general. However, Im having a really hard time coming up with a great name for it. So, I am asking for your help. Submit a blog name to me by leaving a comment below. The winner will win a $10 amazon gift card.

Blog Help

I need help with my blog. I want to have different pages where I can combine my interests all in one blog. Blogger doesnt allow this and I need help. Can anyone tell me what blog system allows this? I have discovered that wordpress.org does but I haven't found a way to sign up for that and if it costs anything. I am looking for a blog expert to help me and to maybe help design my blog. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Book Club

I have wanted to start a book club for a long time but I couldn't really get many interested in joining. I recently started a new job and thought I would ask some that I worked with if they might be interested and lo and behold, some were! We had our initial meeting on the first Saturday of June so we could all meet, as some are people I don't work with, and to decide on our first book. We each wrote down a book and put it in a large bag and had one person draw one out for our first read. The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver was chosen and I was ecstatic as that was my pick. I will be leading the discussion for the book club on this selection and busy trying to come up with some great ideas. We had 6 people show up at the first meeting and I know there are a couple more joining for our first discussion. If any of you are in my area we are meeting at Panera Bread at 10:00 am est on July 7 in Elizabethtown, KY. If you aren't in the area and want to read along with us, I invite you to do so as I will be posting discussion on the blog as well. To celebrate the first selection, I am giving away a copy of the book. If you would like to enter, please leave a comment below and I will randomly choose a winner on Friday, June 15. If you are in a book club, I would love to hear about in your comment.

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog! I still have the same address but I have added new content in an attempt to jazz it up and I have merged my other blog with this one. I previously had this book blog and one that featured my cross stitch and crafty side but decided to put them together and add other items to this one as well. I hope you will find it more entertaining than it has been in the past and I will be posting more and on a regular basis. I have been a slacker on both blogs for awhile and it is time to get in gear and back in the game of sharing my life and hobbies. I hope you will enjoy this new look and content and would love to hear your comments.

World Book Night 2012

Today is the celebration of World Book Night 2012! I am excited to be a part of this and get to hand out 20 copies of The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. I have already given out a few and have many more to go. I love to see the reaction of someone when I hand them a random free book. Are you participating today? If so, what book are you giving out. If not, did you receive a book and which one did you get? I can't wait to hear the experience of others today. Happy Reading!

Jodi Thomas Guest Blog

The question I always fear the most when I'm traveling on book tour is , "Where do your ideas come from?" In truth, I often want to say, "Where did yours go?" because for the most part I don't know where ideas some from. For the most part it's not an idea, but a person who jumps into my mind first. He, or she, walks in, sits down and begins to tell me a story I have to follow. When that happens, as it did in JUST DOWN THE ROAD I grab my computer and start hoping I can hang on to wherever the story takes me. Whenever I begin to plot I like to mix my stories together so that one plot forms out of the life of several people. In JUST DOWN THE ROAD I have the beginnings of young, first time, love and the sweet love of two people who thought they were destined to live their lives alone. In the opening I introduce two people who are running, one from life and the other toward it. One, because of fear, thinks she's never lived and the other feels his life is over. They are not a couple anyone would put together but as they grow to love each other. Tinch and Addison realize they're a perfect match. And, for a man just learning to live again, Tinch has to also realize that there are some things in life worth risking his life for. I'd like to welcome you to step into my town, Harmony, Texas, and get to know the people. The streets of Harmony, the ranches and farms around, the vast open land that molds a special kind of people, all form together in my head as real as a road map. My characters, spurs and all, step into my imagination, "have a set" and tell me their stories. They are as real to me as family and friends and they'll come alive to you also. Who knows, when you finish the book, you might just feel like you have another home town. Remember, always be kind to one another, and enjoy my newest story.

Just Down The Road Review

NY Times and USA Today bestselling author Jodi Thomas is pleased to present JUST DOWN THE ROAD, the fourth novel in her award-winning Harmony series. When Tinch Turner lost his wife, he gave up on living. Now he spends his nights brooding, boozing and brawling. When one of his escapades lands him in the ER, he finds himself staring up at the beautiful new doctor in town. For the first time in years, he feels a spark, but Addison Spencer wants nothing to do with the unruly rancher—or any man for that matter. She’s only in Harmony four months, long enough for the trouble she left behind to be over. But then a vulnerable little boy barrels into both of their lives, forcing them out of the past —and into a future where love is just down the road… “Extremely powerful and gripping writing...full of passionate moments, hidden secrets, and likable characters. ~ Roundtable Reviews “ Even for readers new to the series, the intricate relationships between these affable men and ec-centric women are easy to follow and even easier to love. “ ~Publishers Weekly JUST DOWN THE ROAD Sell date: April 3, 2012 Publisher: Berkley ISBN: 978-0425246924 Retail price: USA $ 7.99 Jodi Thomas is the NY Times and USA Today bestselling author of 34 novels and 11 short story collections. In June 2011, WELCOME TO HARMONY won a RITA, the highest award for women’s fic-tion. Jodi currently serves as the Writer in Residence at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. www.jodithomas.com Twitter.com/jodithomas www.facebook.com/ JodiThomasAuthor Jodi Thomas, NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author My review: Each time I read a book by Jodi Thomas, I fall in love with her writing again. After reading the Harmony series, I feel like a resident of the town and a member of the society as I am surrounded by the characters. It is hard to separate yourself from the real and the fiction of the books. They are so well written, you can't help but lose yourself in the words and begin to be a part of their lives. I urge you to start with the first book and read the entire series through this book. You won't be disappointed.

The Wheel of Time series

I have mentioned before that I am a huge fan of Robert Jordan and his Wheel of Time series. The last book in the series is projected to come out in October of 2012, with the help of Brandon Sanderson due to the passing of Jordan, and I am getting myself ready for the last book. I have decided that I am going to do a complete read through of the series so that I am ready for the last book when it is on the book store shelves. I thought others might want to join me and we can have a book club type discussion over the books. If you would like to join me, comment below and let me know and we will get this thing started. I am starting with the prequel-New Spring. I am planning to start it by this weekend and then will begin to post some discussion topics and can't wait to hear what others think.

CraveBox

A few months ago, a friend on facebook had posted a link to something called the CraveBox. I followed the link and found out it was a new program starting and you could sign up for their test program. If you were chosen, you paid $10 a month and received a box of goodies each month. The goodies would be a range of products-some trial size and some full size. I thought this was a great idea and I signed up for two as I wanted to give it to my mom for year as part of her Christmas present. Well, I was lucky enough to be selected. December was the first month and the box had some lotion, ink pens, a chocolate bar, and some other chocolates. I liked the December selection but wasn't ecstatic over it. Well, my opinion of CraveBox has grown after receiving the January box. It contained a bottle of extra virgin olive oil, face toner, Ester C vitamins, a pedometer-that you can plug into your computer and win gift cards for how many steps you take, and the latest selection of Prevention magazine-with a full year's subscription to it. I couldn't believe all the goodies that were included and the total of the package was well over 100.00. Check out the picture below of what was in my box. I am counting down the days until I get my February box and I must say just opening the box before you even see what is inside, is great fun. The goodies are wrapped in bright pink tissue paper and it is at once elegant and enticing-almost like a spa in a box (even though all the items are spa related). I urge you to contact CraveBox and try to get in as they are adding people as they have room for more to take part in their program. CraveBox
