Audiobook Giveaway: Good Boss, Bad Boss by Robert I. Sutton

GOOD BOSS, BAD BOSS
(Unabridged)
by Robert I. Sutton, PhD
Read by the Author and Bob Walter

After the smashing success of THE NO ASSHOLE RULE in which he tackled corporate bullying in the workplace, Robert Sutton now asks the question: what separates a good boss from being a great boss?

I have three copies of this audiobook to giveaway. Please leave a comment telling a short story about either good boss or a bad boss you have had. Don't forget to leave your email address so I can contact you. The contest is open to US and Canadian residents and the winners will be chosen on October 20.

  1. Many years ago I had a wonderful boss who was kindhearted and a good listener. This individual was exceptional and had an open door policy. Some young women would cry their eyes out and nothing fazed this individual. I need a boss like that now. Thanks for this giveaway. rojosho(at)hotmail(dot)com

  2. When I was young, and working at a fast food restaurant, I had a boss, write the word *itch, in bleach across my uniform. I quit soon after. I was really young, barely 16 and really shy, and I never told anyone. It was awful.

  3. The best boss I ever had was one who never seemed to be around so I could pretty much do things my way and never felt like I was under any pressure to get things done a certain way. It was great! wandanamgreb(at)gmail(dot)com

  4. Hmm Recently we had a fill in pharmacist at the drug store i'm a technician at. He was very loud and boisterous. He also seemed to be targeting all the girls aka all the staff except for the one guy. I was so freaking embarrassed by the end of the night. He would ask general questions of my life and then criticize them loudly. So that everyone including the customers could hear. Apparently being an introverted person who likes to read and take nature walks is a crime these days. Also apparently being single and having rabbits. I told my regular boss about it and all she said was that she knew "T" could be obnoxious. I did request that if "T" ever filled in again to please not schedule me with him.

  5. The best boss I ever had came with the best job I ever had. She gave me the work, showed me what to do, and left me to it. No micromanaging at all.

  6. Once I had a boss that didn't trust anybody to do anything right. He double checked everyones work and it drove me crazy. I found another job as quick as I could. When I gave my notice, he begged me to stay.

  8. I had a great boss at my most recent job. She was the customer service manager for several years, and she understood that we all have issues in life that sometimes just have to be dealt with so that we can perform our best while we were at work. She had an open door policy, and we could go to her with any problem or issue that came up.

  9. I had a wonderful Boss that would always back you 100% if you were honest with him and always made you feel that you were important for the success of the company. I tried to model my own management style after his when I was promoted. I hope the people of my team felt the same way about me. I would love to win this audio book as I am always interested in leadership ideas. Thanks for opportunity.

  10. I had an amazing boss recently who entrusted me to pretty much use my best judgment and do whatever I want. And that's what I did, and I did a great job at it.

  11. I had a series of amazing (good) bosses during my entire Air Force career. When I became a "boss," I took examples from each of them and tried to be the very best, as they had been.
