In celebration of National Bible Week and the new translation called the Common English Bible, I started thinking about the different translations. I am a King James version girl and I always have been. I do consult other translations from time to time but I have always used the King James as my main source. I think it is because that is the first translation I ever had and I just got used to always using it over the years before other translations began getting popular. It got me curious as to see what translations that others use the most and are you open to trying new ones?

I'm kind of a Bible-o-holic and have almost every English translation there is. My first Bible was a KJV like you and in seminary they I got hooked on the New King James because it sounds similar. These days I mostly use the little-known NET Bible at net.Bible.org because of its excellent scholarship. The CEB is growing on me as well. Have you had a chance to read much of it?
ReplyDeleteMy first bibles were all KJV's, but then I got a student study bible that was NIV and that's been what I have used for the better part of 25 years.
ReplyDeleteAbout a decade ago, I heard about the HCSB, Holman Christian Standard Bible and I like it a lot. I bought one about two years ago and love the wording and the references that were included in it.
However, whenever I'm studying, like for Sunday school lessons or such, I typically use at least two translations.
